Academia de Artes

La Academia de Artes It has been, since its creation in 1966, an institution formed with the aim of bringing together the most important leading agents of artistic production and its study. Committed to contributing to the production and dissemination of Mexican artistic heritage, it has been characterized, since its origin, by a spirit and social projection that have allowed it to develop a cultural project of international relevance.

Created on December 12, 1966 and installed on June 10, 1968, the Academia de Artes has defined itself by its vocation for the defense and conservation of the national artistic heritage, an irreplaceable element for the historical identification of Mexico. This mission has resulted in the existence of a wide and diverse heritage universe that crosses the material and immaterial dimensions.

The Academy has an important collection, made up of paintings, sculptures, photographs, graphic works and documentary material, the latter made up of audio and video files, as well as a library, sound library and photo library on Mexican art.

The Documentation Center of the Academia de Artes is a repository that aims to concentrate various materials, organized so that users can learn, through the available references, artistic expressions from multiple disciplines.
