The members

La Academia de Artes, made up of a maximum of 35 full members, who are non-transferable, is distributed in groups of five in each of the seven sections that comprise it. On April 30, 1968, the Academy was made up of 18 founders, who were appointed by the Ministry of Public Education, leaving the election of the missing members to the Council.

By decree, members of the Academy must be Mexican by birth or naturalized for at least 18 years; be chosen from among the people with the highest prestige and competence in their specialty, and achieve at least two-thirds of the majority of votes of the total members of the Academy. The quality of Anumber academic It is for life and is only lost by express resignation, by permanent impossibility of carrying out its functions or by the vote of two thirds of the members of the Council.

In the event that a person has high prestige and competence in their specialty and the Council wishes to honor their work, despite the fact that they themselves are not Mexican by birth or naturalization, they can be appointed ACorresponding academic. 

They can be called ACorresponding academics up to three eminent personalities in each of the sections of the Academy, at the proposal of all the members of the respective section and provided that their candidacy is approved by two-thirds of the total number of Academicians existing at the time of the vote. The elected Corresponding Academics must express in writing their acceptance of the honor conferred, within a period of one year from the date of notification; If they do not do so, the election will be void, without the need for a declaration from the Academy.

Sections
